About the Mindsets Matter: Family Engagement Institute
By participating in the Mindset Matters virtual training, we will focus on building trust with students and families, starting with understanding the biases and perspectives we may have about them. In this session, participants will practice moving from a deficit-based approach to an asset-based approach through honest conversations and dialogue.
This training includes:
- Interactive professional development sessions
- Ready-to-use tools for family engagement planning
Virtual One-On-One Coaching
For an additional $200.00, Families In Schools will provide a virtual one-on-one coaching session to discuss tailored family engagement strategies and tactics.

“The most useful thing I would take away from this training, is we have to be intentional [with] the families we have in our schools, and find the best practices to help them be more engaged in our schools and with their children,” – Bright Star Schools and Magnolia Public Schools Participant 2023
“Great conversations and sharing. I am excited to take all of this knowledge back to my school site,” – Bright Star Schools and Magnolia Public Schools Participant 2023
“The training gave more of an alternative approach [to] family engagement,” – New York City Public Schools Participant 2023
