Diana Sarabia, Project Manager, oversees the implementation of two special programs at Families In Schools: the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) and the Going on to College (GOT College!)-Gang Reduction and Youth Development Program. SES funds are provided to school districts through the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Eligible students attending a second year or more program improvement school in LAUSD are eligible to receive free tutoring services. GOT College! strives to enhance the college-going culture of schools and assists parents in understanding the importance of higher education and the academic preparation needed for their child’s success.

Through SES, Ms. Sarabia oversees the efforts of 22 outreach workers who engage parents to enroll eligible children for free tutoring services.  She coordinates the dissemination of information regarding these services to parents and community organizations.  For GOT College!-GRP Ms. Sarabia oversees teachers and parent volunteers in multiple school sites on workshop implementation and outreach strategies, also providing technical assistance throughout the academic year to ensure the quality of program delivery.

Ms. Sarabia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and has over 12 years experience in the field. Prior to joining FIS, she was a supervisor at a local non-profit organization, overseeing the work of fifteen case managers in a state funded pregnant and parenting teen program.
