Monica Ramos is a Program Associate of Early Education and Family Literacy Programs at Families In Schools (FIS). She is currently attending one of the ten best social work graduate programs in the nation at the University of Southern California. She is a Masters in Social Work (MSW) 2008 candidate with a concentration focus on work and life. She has extensive experience working with children in child development centers, elementary schools, and home care programs. She also has clinical experience providing psychotherapy to women with substance abuse and group therapy with children with ADHD/ADD. At FIS, she helped organize the Ready for Kinder Summit in the city of Wilmington, a conference which brought together kindergarten and preschool teachers and agencies to share ideas and to plan how to best prepare children for kindergarten. Recently, she assisted in the coordination of The Million Word Challenge Kick-Off, a media event to promote literacy and the annual Feria del Libro: A Family Book Fair.

 

Ms. Ramos received her BA in Psychology & BA in Child Development, from California State University of Northridge, California.
