Read with Me/Lea Conmigo is a family involvement program designed to improve the early literacy skills of infants and toddlers, preschool children, and students in kindergarten through 1st grade.  The program engages families in early reading activities by providing a weekly supply of award-wining children’s books into the home. 

Every week, Read with Me families meet at their local school or community agency to check-out a colorful purple backpack filled with 6 children’s books in English and Spanish.  Read with Me/Lea conmigo book backpacks are complemented by family literacy activities provided by school or agency staff.  FIS trains teachers to manage the program and to develop effective partnerships with parents.
