On Saturday, March 15, 2008, Families In Schools in partnership with Project STEPS/GEAR UP sponsored the 3rd Annual Family College Day: The Road to College and Leadership at the University of Southern California (USC).
Approximately 200 parents and students participated in college preparation activities from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. The conference kick-off began with the music of the USC Marching Band, the inspiring words from Maria Casillas, our keynote speaker, and continued with workshops led by experts on college entrance requirements as well as student-run panels showcasing university organizations from USC, CSUN, CSULA, and UCLA.
