Virginia Victorin is Corporate Giving manager for Washington Mutual in California. In this capacity, she helps manage all of the company's charitable contribution initiatives throughout the state, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Phoenix, Arizona. Victorin is involved in helping to build key community coalitions that reflect the diversity and areas of needs where the company does business.


Prior to joining Washington Mutual, Victorin served as senior business advisor and senior program officer to British Petroleum (BP) and the ARCO Foundation. There she directed corporate and community relations initiatives in support of K-12 education reform, engineering education, and the arts. She worked in the nonprofit sector for 15 years, and has twelve years of grantmaking experience, including almost three years with as a Program Specialist (GS-12) for the ACTION Federal Government's Domestic Volunteer Program. She recently served on the staff of the Achievement Council - a Los Angeles-based education nonprofit dedicated to improving instruction and access to quality educational opportunities for all children.


Virginia is an active member of the community. She is a long-time member of Grantmakers for Education, Southern California Association for Philanthropy, Hispanics in Philanthropy, and the UCLA Latino Alumni Association. Victorin is a member of the Riordan Volunteer Leadership Development Program Advisory Committee, encouraging and promoting corporate involvement on nonprofit boards and committees. And most recently, Virginia joined the Board of Directors of Families in Schools, a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles dedicated to improving student achievement through meaningful parental engagement strategies focused on literacy, reading, and leadership.


Victorin received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, with an emphasis in international comparative politics, from the University of California, Los Angeles, and attended the UCLA Graduate School of Education, Teacher Credential program.


She is a native of Los Angeles.
