SEA-LAB-LOGO-2008

Since 1997, the Corps has operated and managed the SEA Lab, our hands-on science center dedicated to marine conservation and education programs, located in Redondo Beach.

Each year, SEA Lab staff, corps members and volunteers educate school children and visitors about marine life and the importance of protecting our oceans.

The LA Conservation Corps is the nation’s largest urban conservation corps and LA’s preeminent youth development organization. We exist because we are concerned that 1 in 5 of LA’s youth adults is both out of work and out of school, and that they see no path out of poverty. We give young people an opportunity to improve their circumstances while they heal their communities.

Our programs equip these young people with life skills and work experience by employing them in a variety of conservation projects. Some of those projects include building parks, planting trees, refurbishing hiking trails and building community gardens. We also provide them with a high school education in our affiliated charter school. Our ultimate goal is to prepare LA’s forgotten youth for post-secondary education and living wage jobs, and to inspire them to change themselves, their communities and the world!

OUR PRIMARY MISSION
is to provide at-risk young adults and school-aged youth with opportunities for success through job skills training, education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.
