schools and community organizations programs to give staff, parents, and students new learning opportunities that increase
knowledge and skills to support student success

FIS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS
MILLION WORD CHALLENGE is a county-wide PreK – 12th
grade literacy campaign that promotes a culture of literacy at
home and academic achievement at school. The initiative
challenges students to read MILLIONS of WORDS outside of
the classroom.
PASSPORT TO SUCCESS is a PreK – 5th grade family initiative
that reduces summer learning loss by encouraging students and
families to participate in learning activities like reading books,
visiting libraries and museums, and attending cultural events.

development and technical assistance support to
help school staff effectively leverage parent assets,
by building and increasing their knowledge and
skills around engaging parents.
