“ I was able to being thinking about what career path my child is interest in to better choose the classes, school and activities he needs to take in order to reach his goal successfully” – TMS parent participant
Families In Schools helps parents and their middle and high school children cope with challenging transitions on the pathway to college. Developed in partnership with the Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative and teachers from local middle and high schools, Transition To Middle School (TMS) and Transition to High School (THS) empower parents with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to guide their children’s education as they move into unfamiliar education settings.
To date, approximately 450 students and their families have participated in the TMS program. THS has also flourished, having reached 400 parents, 26 parent leaders, and 28 school staff members.
